



Zhiyong 'Mike' Li

Zhiyong "Mike" Li (李智勇) is a Los Angeles–based Composer, Sound Designer, and Audio Engineer, specializing in original music, immersive sound design, and audio implementation for film, video games, and interactive media. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music, where he majored in Film Scoring and Electronic Production & Design, with a minor in Video Game Scoring. Combining artistry with technical precision, Mike brings a holistic approach to every project he undertakes.
Born in Dalian, China, Mike began his musical journey at the age of eight, studying the Chinese flute Dizi. He later expanded his repertoire to include other Asian woodwinds such as the Xiao, Bawu, Xun, and Shakuhachi. With more than 15 years of performance and recording experience, Mike continues to weave these instruments into both traditional and contemporary works, offering a unique voice that bridges cultures and genres.
Mike’s career began at Tencent Games and Hexany Audio, where he honed his expertise in sound design, music production, score editing, and game audio integration. While at Berklee, he also served as a Music Technology Lab Assistant, helping to engineer over 20 recording studios and labs.
Currently, Mike is a Sound Designer and Asset Manager at Sound Lab, a Keywords Studio in Los Angeles. He contributes to AAA titles and major productions such as Destiny Rising, Final Fantasy, Cyberpunk 2077, Transformers One, and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. In addition to his work in audio, Mike built and maintains the Sound Lab website, showcasing both his technical versatility and creative problem-solving. His specialties include sound design, music production and recording, video editing, studio engineering, SFX library building and management, and audio system troubleshooting in Pro Tools and Dolby Atmos environments.
Fluent in both Chinese and English, Mike brings a global perspective and a deep passion for audio. Whether composing, designing, recording, or engineering, his mission is to craft unforgettable sonic experiences that tell stories and connect with audiences worldwide.
